Thesis:
BEING OUT AT WORK:
THE IMPACT ON GROWTH WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION

In completing my Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership/Development from Mercer University, part of the graduation requirements included a year-long research project which related back to the field of OD. My passions in life continue to focus on becoming educated on topics which at the onset, I may have a limited background or viewpoint on the topic but a strong interest and a potential voice.
Sexuality and living openly within the workplace and in the organizations I am part of have become an inherent part of who I am. Being authentic is the only way one can truly give 100 percent to their work or passions. This study focused on the impact "living openly" has had on individuals who have chosen to share their sexuality (Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual) within their workplace settings. The research examined stigmatization, fears and growth opportunities. In conducting the research, I had the opportunity to interview multiple leaders from various Fortune 100 companies. Each participant self-identified themselves as LGB and live openly. Their voice and the voice of so many others, including myself are attached to this research paper below.
